7 Domestic Ways To Get Rid Of Pimples

Get Rid Of Pimples

Pimples or acne are red, tender bumps that have white pus when they become ripe and sensitive. This is due to the overproduction of oil and a build-up of bacteria in the pores. They can appear anywhere with a large number of oil glands, like the neck, face, chest, back, shoulders and sometimes in the scalp.

There are over the counter creams and antifungal lotions specially made for acne. Some contain antiseptic, anti-inflammatory properties and they can help to reduce and treat acne around the affected area.

Acne occurs when the pores of your skin become blocked with dead skins, bacteria or oil. When there is an overproduction of sebum, it can clog pores. Each pore of the skin is the opening of the follicle. The follicle is made up of a hair and sebaceous gland. The oil gland releases sebum, which travels up the hair, out of the pores and into the skin.

Here are some ways to clear pimples. These steps can dry up a new pimple overnight and dry up old ones in 48 hours.

1. Onions

Antioxidants found in onions may help reduce inflammation caused by acne. The sulfur-containing essential oil in onions stimulates production of the molecule, called Glutathione. People with low levels of glutathione are prone to acne and breakouts. Onions will dry out pimples fast due to its anti-bacterial, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties. Vitamin C is also present in onions and this can help nourish the skin. Slice and apply the juice to the pimples after washing the face.

2. Garlic

Like onion, Garlic has antiseptic properties. It contains antifungal, antiviral properties from allicin. Allicin helps to kill bacteria causing acne. Garlic contains anti-inflammatory properties. Take a clove of garlic and make cuts to get the juice from it, use cotton buds to apply or just use directly from the cut part of the cloves.

3. Toothpaste

Toothpaste contains baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, triclosan and menthol and this can help to dry pimples. It is effective and works fast, like garlic and onions. Toothpaste is, however, not advisable to use all the time on your face because of its contents. Longer use can cause more damage to the face. So, use on the affected areas only and be cautious with your use.

The best way to avoid acne is to wash and exfoliate regularly at least twice a week, depending on your skin type. Oily skin is prone to pimples. So, adequate care should be given to the skin to avoid breakouts.
